What does Home mean to You?

What does home mean to you? Starting on Tuesday, November 9, people all over the world are invited to answer this question by submitting an original photo to ExchangesConnect (http://connect.state.gov).This year’s theme, "Postcards from Home: Show Us Where You’re From," challenges entrants to creatively share personal perspectives on their own homes and cultures through a photograph and a brief description. This year's contest will run from November 9, 2010 through December 17, 2010 and is open to anyone age 14 and older. Two grand-prize winners (one U.S. and one non-U.S.) will receive a netbook computer, and 18 runners-up will receive a T-shirt and postcards of the top 20 submissions. Winners will be announced on January 5, 2011. ExchangesConnect is the Bureau of Educationall & Cultural Affairs’ international online community, which hosts people-to-people dialogue among more than 26,000 members about U.S. Department of State-sponsored exchange programs and cultures.

Teaching Assistant Program in France, 2011-2012

The Teaching Assistant Program in France program is sponsored by the French Ministry of Education and the Cultural Services Department of the French Embassy in Washington, D.C. offers young Americans the opportunity to live and work in France for 7 to 9 months, teaching English to French students of all ages. The initiative aims to strengthen English-language instruction in French schools through the establishment of a native speaker presence, while also providing Francophiles and future teachers of French in the U.S. with excellent teaching experience and first-hand knowledge of French language and culture. Nearly 1,500 positions are available each year for American citizens and permanent residents across all regions of metropolitan France and in the overseas departments of French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Martinique and Réunion. The application for the 2011-2012 program is now available online at: https://www.tapif.org. The application deadline is January 1, 2011.
